This course is not for the beginner and we expect all students to be able to cover a cake with Sugarpaste, The class is run over a weekend due to the amount of skills covered. You will be using, various mediums including Sugarpaste, Mexican paste, petal paste and Cake lace. You will be covering a Fruit Cake and a Deep Cake Dummy.
Firstly you will be shown how to assemble 3 fruit cakes to achieve the Birdcage shape. You will then be shown how to prepare and cover this cake in marzipan, prior to covering with Sugarpaste. You will be provided with a deep Polystyrene dummy, which you will cover with Sugarpaste. We will ensure that you achieve a professional and smooth finish on both bases. You will then have the opportunity to use the much talked about ‘Cake lace’. We will be using Doric Sweet Lace which is preferred by our tutor. You will have the opportunity to purchase this and the mats at a reduced price during the course.
On day two, we will be showing you how to tier and assemble your cakes the professional way. We will then be showing you how to make a full rose and will have the opportunity to use the new ‘Blossom Art’ cutter and mould sets, to make a variety of sugar flowers. These will also be available to purchase on the day at a discounted price. On completion of all techniques you will end up with a professional cake similar to the above to impress your family and friends. This is a full day course and you will need to bring lunch on both days.
This course is held in our new teaching facility “The Studio”. Free Car parking is available very nearby. “The Studio” is situated within yards of the local Bus Station and Taxi Rank, with only a 5 minute walk to the Train Station.
This course starts at 10:00 and finishes around 16:30 on both days.

The course price includes everything you need, including the use of all sugarcraft tools, and equipment. Free refreshments are available but you will require a packed lunch.
What you need to bring:
An apron, packed lunch and box suitable to take your finished project home safely.
