This is an excellent class for beginners wishing to learn the art of carving. You will be taught how to carve, sculpture, divide, fill and ice your sponge cake to achieve a professional, smooth finish. Then you’ll learn finishing touches including stitching, cutting,texturing a board and writing skills. The Photograph is an example of what can be achieved using these techniques, students however will use their own design to complete.
· How to divide and fill your sponge cake with jam
· How to carve and sculpture your sponge into this handbag shape
· How to apply a crumb coat and buttercream
· How to professionally cover your cake with sugar paste icing
· How to use smoothers to best effect
· Using textured mats to achieve the drum base
· How to use a stitching wheel
· Creating a purse
Cutting using a template
· How to write using Royal icing
This course is held in our new teaching facility “The Studio”. Free Car parking is available very nearby. “The Studio” is situated within yards of the local Bus Station and Taxi Rank, with only a 5 minute walk to the Train Station.
This course is a full day starting at 10:00 and finishing around 16:30.

The course price includes everything you need including an 8” sponge base and the box to take it home. We will provide all the ingredients, materials, the use of all sugarcraft tools, equipment and refreshments. Course attendees will receive student discount on items purchased in the cake decorating supplies shop on the day of your course. Please note whilst we will endeavour to cover all techniques shown Students will not be able to make the handle as shown in photograph as this needs a minimum of 24 hours to set
